Does anyone know of a window motor replacement for late model cars? Switch and all electrics test okay, the gear looks worn but not broken in anyway - motor sounds VERY tired and can't push the window all the way up

thanks fellas but those conversion instructions are for early cars, not later cars. the regulator is very different in my gt5 than my '72. I have a spare window motor, but it's different as well - the span between the two mounting 'studs' is wider in the later cars.
Consider taking it to a local auto electric shop that repairs starters & alternators, they can likely rebuild or rewire it for you.

on a whim, I decided to take the right side panel off in hopes of finding a sticker or ID on the other motor. Lo and behold the Pantera Gods were smiling upon me - it's a Ducellier motor. and Google has provided a few sites that claim inventory and about the same price the vendors offer new motors +/- $150.
Would still be nice to find a modern, more powerful alternative.

Sounds like you have the standrad motors as fitted to early Pantera's, I'm not aware of a change. The modern swap should still work on your later car, the mounting holes have to be redrilled anyway.
Be aware there are a couple variants on the swap with different orientation of the motor, one being far more compact than the other making the install back into the door far easier.

For $30 rebuilt, I'd try the taurus motor (I did put them in my car).
The issue is that you want the teeth to match. Re-drilling the mounting holes is very simple and you should not be afraid of that at all.

Big-O, I suggest you contact Ted Mitchell in OK . Ted sells a total conversion for windows that completely removes the stock regulator, levers, motor/gearbox and replaces it with modern cable drive system. As installed in my '72-1/2, it removed something like 6 lbs of weight from each door, allows the glass to go completely down instead of letting 1/2" stick up, and the speed it rolls up is now so fast, it's close-to-dangerous! No wiring changes, same fuses & only a Crescent wrench & screwdriver needed to install; 30 minutes per door.
Thanks Jack, I was hoping for a more 'economical' repair ($750 - ouch!) however I guess that would be best for a long term solution. If I am able to find a NOS motor, chances are it will fail as well.

whoa.. didn't realize pictures post so big. a comparison of original motor and newer style motor. I also have a Taurus motor assembly but the width between mounting holes isn't as wide as the regulator requires.

I went to a local electrical supply/repair shop and bought 12v universal reversible motors. Mounting holes were identical but I had to cut 1 " off the shaft. The diameter was a bit bigger around but no problem as there was lots of room. The rubber connector even fits the diameter of the shaft! Used them for both doors and also for the headlight raising motor. Much faster and used them in both my Panteras, one for over 25 yrs now. (keep in mind that I bought them a long time ago, but it's worth a try......) They were under $35. each back then. Hope this helps!
