Okay, took the Phoenix to the radiator shop, had him extend the tubes, made brackets to hold the dual flex-a-lits fans and turned the top mounting brackets around. I went to put the rad. back in the car and the mounting bracketes are about 1 1/2 inches away. The mounting platforms for the old fans are in the way and keeping the rad from going all the way forward. Do I need to get out my cut-off wheel and cut the back part of the old fan platforms? None of the earlier posts that I saw addressed this problem.

thanks

The stock brackets stick out the front of the assembly, toward the front of the car; to lay down the rad, you cut them off, swap them end-for-end AND TURNED BACKWARD. This puts the stock brackets pointing out the back (closer to the windshield) so when the rad is in & you line up the holes, the rad lays forward. This leaves about 3" between the front of the rad tank & the hood hinge plate.
STOP! Don't cut anything!!! The bottom of the radiator should be set back with an angle bracket. The top straps need nothing but two additional pieces mounted to them and extending forward. There's no need for "Pantera butchery". Take a look at my setup. The original fan brackets are still there, there has been no cutting AND I've got a front-mounted a/c condenser to boot.
