Before I go cutting up a good boot to get a nice tan piece of leather to replace this strap with, does anyone out there have an extra that they wouldn't mind parting with?

Did you consider an old belt or a dog collar? Shame to waste a nice pair of boots... 
Before you cut up your boots, why not go to the local shoe repair? I'm sure they could make you a strap cheaper then cutting up your boots?
