Would you like to drive a GT/4 Pantera at LeMans as co-driver? This assumes you have the basic driving skills and the money ($50,000). If you would like to have the drive of a lifetime, please email me for more details. This opportunity may never occur again. By the way, you don't get to keep the car......The race is in July of this year.

No guys. IT is plain to me he is asking for a co-driver for the 24 hours of Lemans. You can't expect Dave to drive the whole race by himself. The 50 grand won't even cover expenses. He is asking one of us to become the next Dan Gurney and have our names in the racing hall of fame.
I haven't seen the break down of the $50K but, having done a lot of racing in the past, consider the following:
Tires
Race gas
Possible blown engine
Possible blown ZF
Possible minor to major contact
Entry fees
Pit space fees
Lubricants
Pit crew
Transporter
Lodging for crew
Brake linings
Spare parts
This may add up to a measely $5K as suggested if everything went right, but if the ZF scattered, took out the bell housing, severed a few brake lines and put the car into the wall, 50K may not be enough. I don't have 50K at hand, however, driving in this particular race in a Pantera is very close to my all time, must do before you die, activities.
I am not sure if the car is a real Gruppo IV or a Pantera with race history, however, it is very difficult to be invited to participate in this event.
I am not sure if Whiplash would be eligible for this event, but I would love to enter it some day and take one shift behind the wheel. I would probably hire a professional driver to qualify the car and do most of the driving, perhaps Danica Patrick with Paige Adler taking a shift too. What would that be worth = priceless. DA

Bonjour,

Since I have been part of the Le Mans Classic organisation, I can answer a few question about this outstanding event.

Co-driver means that you will drive the car during the races (4 times 1 hour) on the Grand Le Mans race track. Yes the long one with the Hunaudieres and everything. I drove 4 laps during the first edition of Le Mans Classic and can tell you this is THE experience of your life ! ! !

Porsche 917, Ferrari P3 and P4 are already registered for 2006 edition.

Cheers from Paris,
Frederic
If I could even SLIGHTLY afford it I'd be all over this. However, while writing the check my mind would be on that group of VARA racers who in a similar fashion bought a ride at the Rolex 24 at Daytona last weekend. From what I heard the second of the four drivers spun and ran into - and permanantly took out - not only their own BMW M3 but the Prototype that won Daytona last year. Two of the four drivers never even had a chance to get into the car. Haven't heard about any refunds but I'd be surprised...
