Hi, good morning,

I'm Hartwig from Toulouse (South of France) and new in this Longchamp forum.I bought last week in Belgium LC 3125 which is now parked in my garage next to my 1971 Pantera. The LC was first registered 1982 and was first sold by Claude Dubois. Seems to be a factory GTS. The car needs quite some restauration but most of the bodywork is done. I have a couple of questions for which I could not find answers in the old posts of this forum and your advice is very much appreciated:

  • I noticed various types of bumpers that were installed on the LC. On the attached photo you see that my bumpers need quite some attention. Did my bumper type left factory with black painted bumpers or was it chrome? Any chance to purchase the rubber parts of the bumpers somewhere?
  • I need all window seal rubbers and door seals. I found the www.isorivoltaclub.de. Is that the source you use?
  • The entire exhaust is missing . I have only the headers which have seen much better days. I need a complete exhaust system. Do you have any advice? I found a swiss source for ANSA....but very expensive....
  • The indicator turn signal switch is broken. I noticed from an old post that I have the one from 78 Mustang installed. Seems that the switch is easily available, however, the corresponding lever is broken, too,  which I could not find.
  • There is one original console switch replaced by an ordinary switch that needs to be replaced (next to fan switch, see photo). What is the original switch for?
  • Switch bezel, all Detomaso emblems, window trims are painted in black. Is that factory original?
  • Is it correct that the LC had engines installed that were modified in Switzerland with different engine power ratings? Is there a possibility to see the power rating from outside?
  • My car has the automatic gearbox. It is probably the original C6 which seems to pull some enthusiasm out of the car according to Mikael. I tend to stay with the automatic gearbox setup, but are there better alternatives?

Sorry for the long list of questions.....any direction or advice is more than appreciated.

Cheers Hartwig

There is a guy from The Netherlands who produce the bumper rubbers, try ;DeTomaso Nederland facebook group.

window rubbers and seals Cicognani SRL Italy

Exhaust produced by a good exhaust shop works for me .

Turn indicator switch 1976/1979 Granada USA , the switch handles also the steer adjustment , there is inside a small electric contact modification, the horn pressure switch is for the screen washer, and there is something else other , but I forget.

Black trim can be original, have seen this on 2 LC GTS

dont know of Swiss modificated engines.

you can replace the C6 by a C4 or better a more modern aut. gearbox from a Ford engine with same bell housing bolt patern.

For me the C6 works fine.

any pictures from your project LC  and '71 Pantera ?

Simon
