Hello everybody

I own one of the 17 Longchamps with the ZF 5-speed gearbox. Chassis-Nr. 3003

Now the wipers don't work any more and I wish t repair them but I do not know from whom DeTomaso got the wiper Motor and mechanism. Alfa Romeo maybe or Fiat or some other car maker?

For any help in this matter I would be very very glad.

Thanks so much in advance.

Best regards

Welcome Phillip,

I also have a 5-speed Longchamp. I also have a copy of a letter from De Tomaso stating there were actually only 10 built. I don't know the source of the 17 number. Can you post a photo of your car, or send me via email to "mark -at- markscars -dot- ca"

Phillip, before you start pulling parts, check the basics: on Lucas wipers, the connecting wires usually terminate into a multi-connector- which gets moisture inside and corrodes the unplated connecting pins. Unplugging and cleaning the connector halves with an electronic contact-cleaner often restores function with little cost and no complexities, and you'd likely have to do this anyway when changing motors.
Hello Simon

Sorry, for never answering. I got no e-mail with the replies to my question. Only now thought of checking this page.

My mechanic ordered windscreen wiper motors from Jaguar and they fit and work fatastic.

Ask Roland Jäckel ,Germany other wise a new wiper engine from Holden UK .
there are some difference whit the wiper angle
mostly the engine give the problems.

Hello Mark

That is very intersting indeed. A photo of the car exceeds the 200kb allowed. But all the photos of my car are on ProvaMo.

Best regards

Phillip,

Your car is in beautiful shape. I am including a photo here because I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing it.

Do you know if your wheels were supplied with the car? I had believed that De Tomaso shipped all 5-speed cars with the Pantera 8" wheels instead of the standard Longchamp wheels because some early photos of my car also have the Pantera wheels.

Glad you got the wiper issues resolved.

Mark
