Have you checked some of the companies that have the complete crate engines. Some of thier setups don't look too bad, and there appears to be a fairly wide selection. Pricing doesn't seem to be that bad either.
Wish'n, Thought about that but I've got a bit invested in heads, valves, etc.

George, Thanks for the recommendation. That's about a 10 hour drive. Will think about it.
Houchin's (Louisville)did my short block. Carl is a bit ecentric, but is thorough. His shop is clean as a pin, unlike most of the others that I have walked into the back. Another that comes to mind is Krogers.
