I am interested in going to the (guess they're called "Vader") Low profile, rectangular shaped, headlights. How exactly is this done?? Is the faceplate changed? Or does the entire light "bucket" get replaced? And if so who sells the replacement parts? I realize that the Door limiting mocroswitch would have to be readjusted. Thank You for your time! Marlin.

Well, you can do your own. I bought a set of headlight buckets at San Diego with a 4X6 inch rectangulsr conversion in place, but the job was done really bad.

I made an internal bracket from 0.125 aluminum and spent a few hours poking around a wrecking yard for some better mounting hardware. 85 honda accord stuff worked great, the resulting job uses smaller headlights than (I think, the vader conversion) the 4X6 ones and ended up running to less than 50 bucks for the materials (including brand new lights)

The point is, you dont NEED a kit!!

Have not made them yet but figure to make a small flat piece from 0.050 or 0.078 aluminum cut to fit around the stainless trim that holds the headlight bulb into the Honda bucket. Then a triangular piece for each side, probably rivited to the face plate then attached to the side of the Pantera bucket.

Just with the other work on my project, getting the actual headlights figured was more important than the face plates (a good job for a rainy winter week end)

Indeed, Steve. Sounds like a very nice weekend project. I made my own low profile headlights that open up just about 3 1/2 inches (when fully open, the top of the headlight door is level with the ground). I think they came out awesome! I've also yet to make faceplates, and am contemplating how to go about it. Thanks for the input!

His old address may have stopped forwarding e-mail. Note that some of the "low-profile" headlight kits use a single high-beam bulb, so you give up the low-beam function. This is not illegal or anything, but does reduce functionality (and maybe some high-speed visibility). Some other kits require some or a lot of adaption with the kit to make it fit your car, but Teds is one of the best IMHO.
