While on the Car Guy Tour, I was shocked to learn of Dott. Ing. Giulio Alfieri's passing this afternoon, March 20, in Modena, Italy.
The brilliant engineer of Maserati fame, whose life was consumed with the great GT cars of the 50's, 60's and 70's, passed away this afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Modena time. Mr. Alfieri had been ill for a month and was undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor.
His passing will be a great loss to all those who knew and admired him not only for his work but personally.
Mr. Alfieri, who was in his late 70's, is survived by his wife, Camille, and son, Vittorio, and had been working in his son's business up until the time he became ill. His funeral will be held Thursday, March 21.
