Just to clear this up for those who have never attended Monterey Week.

$2100 for ...seven... nights during Monterey week is NOT an excessive price at all. $300 a night and no party rooms above your motel room, at-home atmosphere and Pantera buddies as roomies makes this offer look pretty good if you've waited this long to decide to attend.

I doubt if there are any rooms within an hour's drive at this late date, at any price.
