I just did this and I agree. It's the 8920. In fact, I think the 8920 is the one to use regardless of your distributor. I have an MSD mag pick up distributor and the 8920 is definitely coorect for it. Your tach is triggered by the wires (mine were black and blue) on the negative terminal of the coil. Just follow the MSD instructions. You can use the wires that were connected to the positive side (Orange red, light blue on my 74) of the coil as your switched 12 volt source. You can/should also eliminate your ballast resistor if you still have one.

If you have an MSD or Mag pick up distributor (maybe any distributor), the only wires that should be connected to the coil are the orange and black ones off your 6AL.

BTW, you'll also want to install the diode supplied with your 6AL box at the #1 terminal of your voltage regulator. If you don't do this, you probably won't be able to turn your car off. The MSD box can get enough current from the instrument circuit on your Pantera to continue to fire your iginition. Evidently, the alterntor keeps feeding the instrumentation circuit, so as long as the engine is spinning, you'll have ignition! You won't even be able to kill the engine by pulling the battery cables! I had to pull my coil wire becuase I couldn't choke it out with my hands over the carb. Luckily, the engine was only at idle.

Good luck,

Actually, my run-on still isn't totally remedied. It still runs-on for a second or two after the igniiton is switched off even after installing the MSD supplied diode (but at least it shuts down after it bleeds off). Thanks for pointing out the fan back feed. I'll see if I can isolate them as well. Happen to know how much current they draw so I can size a diode??
