In speaking with Steve, he claims to have dyno test information for the headers and mufflers.
The hp loss was eliminated by internal changes to the mufflers and they are not generic. They were made for him to his specifications.
He also says they are guaranteed and send them back if there is an issue.
Now this is coming directly from Wilkinson. I'm not using them. I was just around when he got the first delivery and he asked to pass the word around.
Personally I have never had an issue with him. You have a problem with a part, you send it back.
My critcism of him is there are a lot of parts he sells which he knows nothing or little about installing.
For instance, the new fuel gauge sender/fuel pickup, the float sender needs to be calibrated on the car for the gauge to read correctly.
That entails bending the float rod on the thing. He didn't know that. Why? Simple. He's not any kind of a mechanic.
He just is a salesman.
Those mufflers are not rocket science. They are very simple devices. If there is a defect in manufacturing, use the waranty. If there is that much issue with them as far as durability, there isn't supposed to be.
Maybe the design just needs to be updated.
Now I personally on other cars have blown out Flowmaster mufflers tuning the Webers in the early days (1980ish). It is very easy to lean out the idle circuit on those things and when you back off the throttle after WOT you can get a backfire that WILL blow out the internal baffles (and expand the case). Who knew?
Did you give the guy a chance to correct the issue or do you just want to complain about it like a bunch of little girls and want to scratch his eyes out? Sometimes I wonder?
