When I was younger, I had a slightly different one that was designed to whack the distributor to adjust the timing. You had to have the right touch (and a strong arm) to make it work.

That is a expert engine swapping tool. The beginner tool is much smaller.I once rebuilt a briggs and Stratten motor using nothing but one of those.

Duct tape.
