I just read that it is actually made up of concentrated napthlene (mothballs) While it does not increase octane, it does help to oxygenate the fuel to help it burn better. The down side is like ethanol, it will eat away at rubber and other parts. Since the concentration is high, it will probably do it at an accelerated rate.
