I thought I'd send you a bit of news regarding our favorite model, the Detomaso Pantera! It appears Mattel is no longer shipping the Yellow Pantera model. Apparently they are completely sold out! I knew that Mattel had produced very few of the Pantera models (although they never would divulge the production numbers and probably never will) but I was told that the normal supply of the "average" Mattel diecast model is two years. The Pantera has apparently sold out in about six months which tells you that it was indeed a limited production model. Hang onto those Yellow Panteras as they will be highly sought after collectors items in the future!
Now for the new information. I have first hand knowledge that Mattel is producing a new color for the Pantera model. Please note that this is NOT a different body style than the Yellow Pantera. It is identical in all respects to the previous model with the exception of the color. The new color is a gorgeous shade of Blue. Please note that the photos are of the REAL car which Mattel took the color from. It is NOT the photo of the actual scale model Pantera which Mattel will produce. As soon as I have photos of the actual model in the blue color I will post them as well.
Mattel has stated that they expect to deliver the models starting May 1, 2001. I am once again taking pre-orders for the new model. I am keeping the price the same at $29.95 each even though shipping charges have increased. In the unlikely event that Mattel does not manufacture the model in the new Blue color you will be contacted by email and asked if you would like to have your monies refunded in full or receive the alternate color Mattel produces.
Also, for those of you who are interested in the latest Scala 1/43 Pantera models (limited editions of just 100 models) please email and I will get you the incredible details. The first series Pantera model produced by Scala sold out very fast and are now selling for $300 each if you can find them! The latest version of the Scala Pantera GTS (available in Red/Black, Yellow/Black, Blue/Black and Green/Black) is already sold out and we haven't even received our allotment of 16 models yet! They are expected to arrive mid-April.
