new mirror mounts for old mirrors

Just finished the first set of mirror mounts.

Incase someone is interested, the base is mounted to the mirror body with springs. To disassemble the unit, you must remove the mirror it self from the swivel mount by popping the 4 clips so the glass plate will come out.

There are some mirror plate close-ups in this series of pictures. This shot shows the base springs mounted inside the mirror housing.

This set of mirror are electric so you have to fish a pull wire through the assembly to pull the wires.

With the wires pulled, you attach the mount surface plate to the mirror body.

Then attach the electric adjuster to the mount plate. There are 2 screws that hold it to the plate.

The shot shows the two sided tape installed on the end with the long flap to pull when the mirror is pushed into place under the glass rubber seal.

Mirror in place and the tape tab is ready to be pulled.

Mirror body installed and ready to have lenses re-installed.

With the mirror in hand, you can see the 4 clips that lock onto the adjuster tabs identified by the loops with holes on the drive plate. You just snap the mirror on the tabs.

All finished---just need to give the mirror housing paint a fresh polish and a good cleaning.

Last shot of the new mount from the front. I will get some better shots that show the angle of the mirrors on the door once the car is outside.
