I need some encouragement. Today arrived my third Pantera project #1441 from LA, orig from NJ, rusty floorboards, disassembled engine, but a true time capsule car. even down to the factory original am-fm radio, (never even seen one before). It was an origional yellow car but has been resprayed a faded red? I'll bring it back to life! Had to cash out my sweat equity on ol #1894. It went to a good home,to a hollywood producer in LA! Let the games begin! Smiler

Keith, make sure you DO take the before pics, even if you're too embarrassed to post them. When you're knee-deep in it looking back at them will make you feel good about how far you've come and (if you're at all like me) give you a boost to continue on. Good luck (and I do hope you post progress, as it's always fun for the rest of us to see)!
I'll have pics in a week or so. I even found the factory stock air cleaner. Floorboard rust is extensive, creaping up the left door post. But no rust on exterior? 44,357 origional miles, never knew the glovebox had a locking mechanism (twist type) Still digging around, working 11 hour days. I will start tearing it apart on Fri. Starting with the engine. Thanks for your support, I know It will be worth it!
Keith, That is a pretty early car ..a 71 ? Does it have the splash sheild on the driver rear that goes to the top. My car 1362 had a half splash that let water and debris fall on the door jamb, and behind the tank. I have not had the engine or tank out yet, I dread it. Yesterday I made a panel that fits to the top and sealed it with roof cement caulk...don't laugh, it matched the undercoat from Italy, or wherever they put that stuff on.
It has a splash shield that goes all the way to the top. The door jam rust isn't as bad as I thought. The drivers side old headers seem to be melted away? It did have an engine fire years ago I was told by It's second owner. It was fun talking to him, he's now 71, I'm 51, not too much younger!
Well, I just pulled the heads off the engine, everything weighs a ton!!! Nothing but pure rust and gunk. I'm not sure this engine is worth rebuilding. I may just drop in another engine. This car wasen't babied. How people abuse Panteras is beyond me! My wife call them "Baboons". I've got tons of work ahead of me that's for sure.
Finding more and more rust the further I get into it. Today I ordered from Jerry, all new gates hose and the steel replacement lower hose. cost $170.00. I decided to have the engine rebuilt to stock, only bored out with new pistons, about $1,200.00. Clutch set from Pantera performance, $350.00 etc, etc, ouch!
