Hi to all,

Currently working on making the hump smaller. I've looked at past threads and options for vinyl replacement. So far all of those options are not available anymore. I've asked a couple of vendors and they don't do anything with vinyl for interiors. Are there any new sources?

Thanks again for all your help.

Hey Ken – I know, I was just kidding.

I’m assuming you’re cutting the bubble out of the center of the large bulkhead panel.

I had to take mine to a professional upholsterer to get the vinyl done nicely. I think I tried it once and I give up.

You may have seen that I was able to cut notches into the bottom of the bulkhead panel, and match it to the back of the console tray. That way mine engages right into the console tray.

Another helpful trick is to put RTV onto the captive nuts, and then screw them in with the metal bulkhead cover. Once they’re dry, the RTV will give the nuts just a little bit of movement, but they are generally in the right place… it helps to get all those nuts aligned.

I also used those black rubber sink washers under the heads of the attachment screws. This gives a nice cushion to clamp the metal bulkhead cover down with.

Good luck with your project -

Chuck

Rocky,

There you go again bust'n my chops!! But that's OK, someone has to do it. I live about 100 miles from any shop. I may try things myself. If it looks bad then I look to the pros. I do what it to look good. I ain't no redneck from the hills. I can see them from here.

Wasn't there a saying way back when "There is more than one way to skin a Cat"? Not sure who said that but I think it was way before the Pantera was on the road.

Thanks Rocky for you insite. I will have to look at that.

Well, I was successful in doing the fiberglass work on the shortened cover by myself, and was able to cover the big flat areas of the bulkhead, and the lip by myself…

Anyway, I’m sure you knew I was kidding you.

I also had just a little bit of rubbing on my AC Compressor belt on the metal cover, but that’s just something to watch for as you assemble all the parts….

I don't know why you insist on having a vinyl hump? I eliminated it entirely using three successive layers of plywood and covering it with speaker cloth.

Now the passenger seat goes all the way back.

The hump is the worst original design feature of the car in my view and I have no idea who was the leader of the hump team but maybe he was just a hump himself?

When you really analyze the situation, there is absolutely no reason for that kind of a protrusion. Am I the only one who sees the obvious?
