I know...yet another tire thread. I did a search, but couldn't find recommendations as to this issue...

I recently picked up a nice set of original Campi's from our good friend "A Hudson". Wheels are 8 x 15 fronts and 10 x 15 rears. The wheels came with a set of B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's, 215-60/15 front and 265-50/15 rears.

While the wheels were off for the swap, I removed the coil-over spacers and dropped the car 1". The tires now fill the wheel wells nicely, however...visually, the fronts seem a little "tall" (too much sidewall) in relation to the rears.

Would switching the fronts to a 205-55/15 or a 225-50/15 significantly change the amount of exposed sidewall or will I be increasing the wheelwell gap too much?

Will post pics soon.

The fronts ARE a little tall in relation to the rears.

The Pantera L was equipped with C60-15 front tires and H60-15 back tires, equivalent to 205/60R15 and 255/60R15. The GTS Panteras were equipped with the same size wheels as those you purchased from Mr Hudson mounted with 225/50R15 front tires and 285/50R15 back tires.

The 265/50R15 back tires are actually a little smallish, and the 215/60R15 are a little tallish. So yes; replacement of either the fronts with the 225/50R15 or the backs with 295/50R15 shall help make the tires look more in proportion.

Thanks for the info. I can't really tell by looking at the pics as the tires are lost in the shadows. However, the stance on both cars looks good (nose down).

I saw the 295-50/15's in the other tire post and, in my opinion, they look a little over-sized.

I can't get into changing all 4 tires, as the tires I have are serviceable with lots of mileage left.

I'll post pics soon to demonstrate my situation.

Ron, did you have to massage that lip on the fender to keep the backs from rubbing? I can't do that on mine cause of the fiberglass. Would they rub if you don't roll the lip??????
Detom as you can see from the pic ..the car is factory .. no flairs and the lips are rolled ... no rubbing what so ever with those sizes ..but I cannot verify if the openings are a different size then say an L model. I have to say that looking at the driver side wheel opening the lip is even with the gas tank and on my L the rocker and wheel opening extaneds past the gas tank ..so maybe 9138 being an Embo Coach car its a larger opening ???

Ron
I was asking Ron cause I got a GTS that is older than yours and it has these fiberglass flairs that are riveted on over the regular fender. I can't roll the lips on the wheel well without breaking the fiberglass. I had 335s on before and they rubbed, so I been thinking about getting either 295 or 305, but I am not sure which to go with.
