As some of you know, I've recently replaced the heads on my Pantera (well, replaced one, but both worked on at the machine shop). After putting it all back togther, it was running about 60% of it's potential (improper valve lash setting). Saturday I had it properly set by a qualified mechanic. It's definitely much better, but still not right. It just doesn't have the get-on-it punch like it used to. The distributor was not removed during the recent work either, so it isn't a timing issue. I started to suspect a vacuum leak, but after reading some stuff on the web, I don't think I have those symptoms (no backfiring, no rough idle), and I'm a little nervous to try the carb cleaner spray on a running engine (fire hazard). I'm wondering if something wasn't hooked back up properly on the carb when reinstalled (though the carb itself was never removed from manifold). Any ideas?
