Got my Dad's '47 WC back on the road last week. Took about six months of on and off attention. I wasn't looking to do a full resto, couldn't afford it anyway, I just wanted to get her going the way I remembered her back when my Dad taught me to drive circa 1967. She got hidden away in the barn in 1972 after she started running funny.

The funny running part turned out to be one broken, one pitted and 4 stuck valves. I think the stuck ones were just from sitting so long. Thanks to a donation of a couple of used valves and a careful hand lapping job to reseat them all, she runs nicely. She also got new brakes and lines all around, kingpins, a dizzy vacuum advance unit, a muffler, tires, couple of bulbs, some other little stuff. She starts instantly, no smoke, no funny noises, pulls strong, no stumbles, no hiccups, everything works (wiper motors are a little weak), got an inspection sticker and I'm a happy camper.

Not really pretty, but exactly where I wanted to get. Now I'm going to carry on the tradition and teach my daughter (14) to drive her. She'd prefer to learn in Miss P, but that's not happening. Maybe later.
