Oil Pan Drain Plug thread size

My drain plug hex head was looking very worn with rounded corners so I ordered (what I thought) a new FORD drain plug - 1/2" x 20. Just changed my oil to find the new plug is TOO small. Figured out the oil pan is treaded at 14MM x 1.5 - WTF??? My oil pan was replaced by the previous owner (for some reason) but the pan is clearly a FORD and is stamped with the FORD logo and part number. I guess just putting it out there as a public service announcement should you be in need of a new plug. OBTW, I have multiple 1/2" x 20 plugs now to look at.......
