Hello Pantera Gurus - Well I started the Purple People Eater Pantera tonight. It runs and sounds great save for a slipping belt. Only one problem. The oil pressure guage read 0, so I quickly shut it off. Keep in mind that all of the guages are dangling below the dash.

I disconnected the wire from the sender and grounded it on the block. Still nothing. It should have pegged. The oil pressure guage has a lug that appears to be a ground lug on the back. It isn't hooked to anything.

Does the oil pressure guage have its own separate ground?

Is there a separate fuse for the oil pressure guage or are all the guages on the same fuse?

All of the other guages appear to work fine.

Thanks for the help.

Some senders are internally grounded , some are not. I would ground the other wire.
check the back of the gauge that there is 12 volts to the power side.
quite often if there is no oil pressure, and it has hydraulic lifters you will here it a mile away rattlling the lifters.
first off i would check a 12 volts at the back of the gauge, then earth the sender wire, see if the gauge moves.
All this can be done without starting the engine.
if still no good, you could pull the sender out and crank it to see if oil spurts out. I would be extremely surprised if the engine had no oil pressure as the pump drives off the dizzy, and it's the dizzy gear that goes first, which would not let the motor fire up.
hope that helps.
p.s check the oil level !!
Ok - I found the problem. The wiring is all screwed up. There was no voltage to the guage. Through all this I think I now understand the wiring. Can someone please verify.

Pink=12V
Black=Ground
Yellow-Black=Lights
Various=sensor

With that can someone please verify for me that on a Veglia guage

COM=Ground
+ or 12V=12V
Term=Sensor

Thanks for the help.
