and I had to turn the idle down about 250 RPM. It runs better now. I am betting I was at 30 degrees, which seems to accelerate a little better especialy towrd the upper end, but it runs smoother now and not quite as hot. She almost overheated because it is 81 here today and the other day when I drone it it was only in the 50s. So I loosened the distributer and cranked her back ten, so I am betting I am right on that 20 you keep talking about.
BTW, I hate working on a hot engine. The back of my hands are all burned from touching the head when loosing the distrubter bolt. I refused to take the interior out just to turn the distributor when I don't got timing marks to fool myself with.
So thanks a bunch for your help, I really appreciate it. All I have to do now is dust her off for the rod run next weekend. I am gonna meet Bill (LPB) out there and we are gonna terrorise the place with our Panteras.

Slide the seat forward as far as you can. Presuming that you have Pantera seats in the car, the seat is made in two pieces. There is a seat cushion, and a seat back.
The back is bolted to the cushion in four places.
You can easaly see one of the side bolts when you open the door. There is another in the mirror immage location on the other side of the seat.
Leave those alone. Those will become the pivot bolts.
Feel below the hard seat backer for a metal flange about 1-1/2" wide, a few inches long.
They will have a hex head, 5/16" bolt in each one bolted through to the seat cushion.
Remove these two bolts in each seat and the backs will pivot forward.

And if you're creative, cut a slot in the metal flange so all you have to do is loosen the bolts instead of removing them entirely to enable the seat back to pivot.
