Well, today its been raining outside. I'm in the office, fireplace roaring, wool socks on, glass of red wine, working on the magazine. Sounds cozy doesn't it?

Everything is going great. Then...BLINK...the lights go out, AW CRAP, a power outage. everything I had done since the last save (about an hours work) was gone!

Pour another glass & start over.

Whatever thoughts were erased will come back even better. Consider it an incremental though unnecessary improvment to the magazine. Or maybe it just made the magazine shorter!

Either way, we'll let you be an hour late with the next issue.

George, you should ask Santa for an UPS for Christmas. (Uniteruptible Power Supply) They have come way down in price and you can write it off as a capital investment for your business.

George, can't believe a computer guru like you didn't already have a UPS on your system. What happened, did your battery(s) go dead?? Sadly, it happens to all of us the "younger" we get!

Yup, a UPS is money well invested. Power outs never happen when we're doing "nothing" on the computer, only when we're neck deep in work. I guess its another example of Murphy's Law!

Good advice a UPS is a must, but not all outages are power failures, so I recommend you also check on your program options, most have an 'autosave' function and you can set the interval between automatic saves, mine are set to betwen 10 and 5 mins, so that would be the most I can lose on a system crash or outage.

On reboot it will just 'auto recover'to the last save.
