What happened to the fronts? Are they wrecked?

Yup, the car was hit head on then the driver hit a curb and fire hydrant.

Have them filled whith helium before you ship them.
What's the cheapest way to ship them? USPS? How much do they weigh?
How much tread is there on the tires?

$800 is good price for the rears depending upon their shape and the shipping cost to get them to you. I had a set of Marino's 17" and thought the quality was very good. One word of caution: If your buying them thinking you can pick up a pair of fronts, you may want to give Marino a call first and confirm that a pair of fronts (only) are available separately.

They're pricey parts so it's difficult to keep much stock. Likewise, for the same reason it's difficult to serparate sets and if you didn't buy them from Marino, he may have a hard time breaking a set to accomodate you.

There were a few threads a while back complaining about availability of single rim replacment of damaged rims. I never confirmed those stories myself so would say they are about as reliable as any other internet stuff. However, it may be worth contacting Marino directly to ensure that you can complete the set (if that is your game plan) before you buy. It may merely be a matter of waiting for the next run, or it may be no problem.

According to my bathroom scale they weigh about 50 lbs each. I believe that there is a lot of tread left on the tires. When I bought my car, the same tires were about 4 months old and these look about the same. USPS is usually more expensive when it comes to large items than UPS, FED EX etc.

Dennis, tread is normally measurable. It's measure in 1/32 of an inch. Full tires are 9/32 to 11/32.
Full treads are generally considered to be 10/32.

Thanks for the info Panterror. Unavailabilaty of replacement wheels is certainly a consideration to me. The tire sizes are hard to find also.

Those appear to be an early set from Wilkinson judging by the size and length of the slots. He definitley doesn't sell these any more as he told me (last year in Vegas) they had just become too expensive to make.

These are on the market again, the latest buyer changed his mind at the last minute. They are short one tire as a cut was found in the tread of one of them and I didn't feel right selling an unsafe tire.

These are definitely Wilkinson wheels. I have them on my car and love them to pieces. The rear 17x11 weighs 26lb and the 335/35/17 tyre weighs 32lb. The original sand cast 10x15 campys that came off my car weighed 17lb.

...and they fit perfectly, as if they were designed for a Pantera.

Question: normally if a larger then stock tire and wheel are added to the rear of a car, it will act like the rear bar size was increased.
This tends to make the rear push more or go more towards oversteer.
The Mangusta seems to be more sensative to this then the Pantera.
Since this monster wheel/tire swap is more common now, I would expect that I would have heard more negatives so far, but I haven't.
What are the changes to the handling?
Also, not that anyone would knowingly drive the car in "the wet", do you guys hydroplane with the big tires?
