Well, its been a while since I posted any updates. Working 60 hours a week, busy with kids sports, and like many of you, my P-car is done, not much time for DeTomaso this year.

I turned 50 a few weeks ago and my wife had been pushing for me to let her know what I wanted for my birthday . I was having a real issue with turning 50. I’m not into big parties, so she asked if I wanted a lift for the car, I said no, the car’s done, maybe a trip, we just did Cozumel….. She was really turning the heat up since she was running out of time. Earlier this year I came across Jimmy Buffet’s book “A Pirate turns 50” or something like that. Not high end literature or anything, but I thought maybe something in this book might brighten my outlook at turning 50. A few months ago I purchased my son all the episodes of Pirates of the Caribbean for his 12th birthday. In one of the movies, the group goes to another world to retrieve Jack and bring him back. In order to return, they need to flip the pirate ship upside down. So I was sitting in my home office one day, as I look around and my office is decorated with sailboats as well as my boys rooms, then and I decided to flip my JB book upside down, so now the title would be “A 50 turns Pirate”!! AHA! I think I have the answer! I called up my wife and said : Honey, I want a sailboat - A 50 turns Pirate!! .I was done with the book, it had done its job and 50 was now tolerable.

Two days later, we have the “Breakaway”. A 20 foot racing sailboat that sleeps 4. She matches the Pantera. Too bad I can’t put a hitch on the P-car – that would make for a wild pic.

So this year I learned how to tune a piano and weld, next year, I will learn how to sail! The best part, I will have a new hobby that my family can enjoy with me for years to come. Smiler

Cheers!

-William
