That price seams reasonable to me.
Only 4 speeds though! I want 5, maybe even 6.
The ZFQ is now in production (first run of 30 delivered) and racing in replica GT40's. Cost is GBP6500 (under $10K at today's exchange rates). Considering the cost of a new ZF 5 spd has increased to over $12K, that is pretty damn good.
I have a spare ZF to swap into the GT40 (currently using a Porsche transaxle), but by the time I pay to have it inverted for GT40 use etc. It would actually be cheaper to sell it and just order a new ZFQ.

Quaife/GT Transmissions have just announced a) a BMW M1 version of the ZFQ transaxle using straight cut gears and dog engagement and b) a helical gear and dog engagement version for track use, both coming in 2009.
