In our nearly 30 years of involvement within the Pantera Community, we have met many fascinating people from all walks of life and all industries and professions. As most Pantera enthusiasts already know, our group is very diverse and involved in about any type of work you can think of. My background took me down some pretty interesting paths including when I was a kid out of high school, I had one of the best jobs in the world (next to being a director for PI that is!). I was the strip reporter for famed Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington, California. This is basically where I began writing about automotive related subjects. That was in 1966 and only the Vallelunga was around about then and it wasn't on my radar screen yet. What was, was drag racing, especially funny cars. By 1969, Linda and I were part owners of a top alcohol funny car that we raced with our partner until he died of a heart attack at age 42, several years later. A young man worked as a crew man on our team and eventually earned his professional driver's license in our car, the Starlord Corvette. His name is Cory Lee and he continues with his pro career, having driven for some top teams and owned his own cars. He has layed down runs in the high 4.70's at over 320 MPH. He is a terrific fellow and a dear friend of ours. If you follow drag racing, you may have seen him driving the Artisan Entertainment T2 Firebird owned by Worsham Racing. He made his way to the final round of the World Finals at Pomona where he nearly won but sadly, crossed the center line resulting in his DQ. The purpose of this message is to inform fellow enthusiasts that Linda and I have taken over the professional management of Cory's racing career and we are actively seeking sponsorship on his behalf for the 2004 season. Having met members of our Pantera community that have ties to firms that may benefit from a drag racing exposure at the top echelon of the sport, I am posting this message in the hope that you may have interest in joining our team next year. We have prepared a brochure on Cory's program that I invite you to read. The brochure is on this link: http://www.panteracars.com/brochure4.pdf
It would be great to be involved with other Pantera enthusiasts in this project. We plan to tour with Cory next year and we will offer a hospitality tent that will be special! We can't slap on a Pantera body on this rocket ship but we sure could park a Pantera or two pitside. Let us know what you think. Any advice is appreciated.
Your amigos, Paige, Linda and Dave Adler
