PI website

I haven't had any issues at all.

the initial load is fine, it just takes a long wait to get to the forums because of the pics and sound loading. Other sites with heavy graphic content get up quick. maybe its just me...I get cranky with age.

No problems with my loading anything, from our slower DSL connection at home to the ultra lightening fast connection at work.

Maybe there is a government entity screwing with your connection speed......

It sounds like you are entering the forum through the PI home page.

Try doing like I do and use a bookmark to go directly to the forum:

funny thing...I just came back ant it took all of two seconds. The data gods have heard my plight.

Last time someone complained about speed they were told (by George, I think) it was because they owned a white car. I have noticed a speed increase since painting my car orange, but I see that you have a red car...which shouldn't be a problem, right?

I switched a while back to entering the forums directly as Larry suggests. The plugin on the home page seems to take a while to load sometimes.

It may not be internet speed but how long our computers takes to process the information, dependong what else is running too.

The home page is something everyone avoids. If not for surfing in a public place when the music starts, to heavy plug in and heavy bandwidth with the photo down loads. People learn pretty quickly to get off that page.

I go straight to the Forums Summary Page as well ... I have found that using different browsers seems to have an effect, 'Maxthon' (an IE clone) loads the page very fast, while Firefox is very slow ... but I still prefer Firefox for virtually everything else, c'est la vie.

Obviously you haven't tried to get on the ProvaMo site...might as well go grab a beer and read the front section of the newspaper before it loads.

The PI site always works fine for me! I’m running IE8 and I typically stop by everyday to find out the latest news. Professional sites like PI and this type of forum usually run on a robust business class web hosting service. Cost big $$$$ but if you are going to have a website it is always helpful if people can use it. I read somewhere that most website visitors will give a site about two seconds delay and if it doesn’t pop they move on.

Your hosting supplier is one of the culprits regarding speed and I am not exaggerating, as they get bigger (more customers) they do not buy more bandwidth so your data is transferred at a slower rate. The telephone co. who owns the transmission lines,(in most cases), who are the biggest culprits of them all, will reduce the speed as the flow of data on their lines increases.

Heck, I'm in the Middle East working off satellite with an average connection and the site loads up fine. Maybe your computer or the millions of oversold customers on your server hammering it all the time. Over here, can't complain too much, alive is good.
Maybe there's a high speed stimulus plan in the works for this too, LOL, or just head to the forums page and avoid the home page Good luck.
