I just ran across this forum and registered. My name is Jack Launtz, and I live in north western Pennsylvania. I am the original owner of a '69 Mangusta which is still with me after 36 years (#8MA716).
The car has about 6,000 miles on it since new and is 99.99% original. A set of mirrors was added the day I bought the car, the battery, wiper blades, one belt, and the coil were replaced over the years, but it is otherwise totally original. It even sits on its original Dunlops.
Looking forward to participating on the forum...

Get fresh tires, those old ones are likely dangerous now. I hope you keep up on the maintenance, changing the brake fluid, for example, as just sitting the car (any car) rots fast. An occasionally driven car is actually worth more, as it shows it is maintained.

I hope you drive it more than you have it the past! You will appreciate the car more driving it that having it sit.

Post some photos here too! (Add Attachment?)
The car hasn't been driven much for quite some time (obviously). NW Pennsylvania's weather provides a short season to begin with, and most of the events within a reasonable driving time are oriented more toward muscle cars and street rods. This, combined with too little time and too many other cars, has kept the miles down. I recognize that the tires are unsafe at this point, and I keep thinking of the chances of having a little old lady t-bone me or something like that. I know it could be repaired, but it is a real "time machine" at this point, and I really want to preserve the originality.
I don't have any good photos of it at the moment, but it is due to be rolled out and cleaned up before winter, and I'll try to take some decent ones at that time.
Hi Jack and welcome to the board. I hope you will think seriously about joining everyone at next years gathering in the Poconos for a Celebration of Speed and Design hosted by Jersey Pantera. It is not a muscle car event, but you will find Great People and lots of beautiful and powerful cars. It was our first experience at an event and must say it was fantastic. I was hopeing to see a goose there but none around. I hope you will bring yours and give us the honor of meeting you and seeing your Mangusta in person. Rob6145
