Posting pictures

I'm confused about the size of pictures that can be posted (among many other things....). I tried attaching a picture of 725k and was told it exceeded the 250k limit. Now I open a topic in cars for sale and see a picture that won't even fit on the screen. Is it really < 250k? Help!

Mark,

Please shrink your pictures so they are no wider than 640 pixels (this allows the pic to fit everybody's monitor). Then convert your picture to a JPEG file (save as). By doing so you compress the data and reduce the size of the file.
