Q about angle of engine & transmission?

Mine is factory set at 5 degrees

So it's 5 degrees.. That is front of the engine down and end of transmission up?

You may want to specify the parameters for measuring the angle so you are not comparing against data derived using a different technique.

The engine and transaxle are level in the Pantera, which makes the carb mounting pad on the intake manifold angle down towards the front of the engine. The front of the carb would have to be raised in order for the carb to be level. I believe that the angle is 4°.

Okay so I half to mount the engine and gearbox level or will it be better for traction to have an angle?

The angled engine was for front-engine passsenger cars to minimize the big hump in the floor to miss the bellhousing & transmissions. In mid-engined cars and all race cars, a perfectly horizontal engine works better for carbs and oil pump pickups. Angle-mounted engines use a similarly-angled intake manifold so the carb sits level in front engine cars. Otherwise, the front & rear float bowls need very careful height adjustment to keep the mixture correct. On some brands of intakes, its possible to mill the carb pad flat and use angled washers so the carb is held flat by the nuts; on others, they cannot practically be cut; often the length of the rearmost fuel-air passages are longer than in the front. If yours is made like this, I'd sell that intake and find one thats made flat.

Interesting question so I took an angle gauge out to my (dirty) car tonight and this is what I found.
This is the angle at the side rocker.
I have 17" front wheels and 18" rears.

This is the angle at the engine:

And this is the angle on the flattest part of the tranny that I could find.
Essentially 0-1 degree angle the way my car sits on a level slab.
