Interesting... My Porterfield AP-63 R4-S pads worked fine. I don't recall noticing any difference, other than the pin tab on the back of the rear pads backing plate was quite a bit taller than the tab on the stock pads. Don't remember if I had to file it down though. Other than that, I don't recall noting any differences.

Your pads look pretty close. Did your mechanic try to install the pads and found they would not fit, or did he merely look at them and decide they're different? I'd have him try them anyway to see if they will fit.
I suggest that you go to the shop and see for yourself if you can.

I don't recall if my "71 pads were identical, but they were the original ones and I had had no fitment issues with the Porterfilds. The pads should just drop in (ears into the caliper) and my Porterfields did just that. They fit fine and work beautifully compared to the stock pads.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replys. I called Porterfield and sent them the picture. They confirmed that those were the correct pads and they had never had any complaints. I went back to the mechanic and he said that the problem was the anti-rattle clip. It would not be in contact with the backing plate since the "ears" were shorter. I mentioned this to Porterfield and they said that you don't need the anti-rattle clips. I told the mechanic to install them and leave the clips out. I don't think their is going to be a problem.

Thanks again for the help though.
