I don't like the petcock on the bottom of the radiator. It doesn't provide any method of directing the flow, just drowns the front valance which is already rust prone. Anyone know of a suitable substitute?

When I drain mine I make a pathway for the coolant to flow with some aluminum foil. It works real good. No spillage and the valance stays dry...
I have a rubber hose attached to mine so I can drain it directly to a pan or bottle without any mess.
Ditto's on the rubber hose trick. It works!
How about a 1/4" threaded ball valve with a nipple into the rad and extend it past the valance. My aluminum rad is threaded and that works for me.

I thought about the hose. Wasn't sure how well it would drain. Dodn't think it would allow enough flow.
It seems to me to come out pretty fast. But I don't know because I have never not used the hose. Mine is about four feet long and is always on the car. It has some wire ties that it folds up into on that front bar right next to the radiator. So it just stays with the car. Even if the car is jacked up, the extra length lest's you place the hose end in a pan a little away from the car.
