I just had my 72 painted and the painter tells me my trunk latch need to be replaced as it doesn't adequately secure the trunk lid. I need the same part as you. You say you also have an attachement problem? Have you found a vendor who can supply the part. I've used Hall Pantera, but this website sponsor probably also has what we need. Please post your findings. I just got my car back yesterday afternoon and haven't had the chance to do any research.

Lar, it's mounting the catch that concerns me. I purchased the replacement lock set from Hall Pantera. I understand the 71 catch was different in 72 and up. The original 71 catch is mounted on the back side of the deck lid superstructure, almost a right angle to the lock. It's shaped like a 'U' out 1/8 inch wire. The replacement catch mounts on the face of the superstructure. With not a lot of space between the deck lid surface and the underside superstructer I hate to be drilling holes without intel. mark [

I'm not familiar with the early '71s, except that there was a version that was cable-operated from inside the car and a later one that used an outside key similar to the later Panteras. I suggest phoning Hall where you got the thing and INSISTING on talking to Gary himself. If you can reach him, he will certainly straighten out your problem.
