Larry Stock at Pantera Parts Carson City sells something he makes out of a length of plastic with a slot cut down one side, just slip it over the shock shaft. Something you could easily fabricate from parts from your local hardware store IMO.

Search "lift shock lock" on amazon and it will bring up choices from $5 to $35.
I bought a cheap one for $5.27 and it works great.

I never really liked the lift support clamp, as I thought it put a lot of pressure to the hood with it holding up the entire hood if only applied to one strut, although I suppose you could use two. Usually I just have the wife hold it up as I walk around at car shows.

An upcoming Main Street Reunion car show in nearby Napa (Aug 18th) will be my Pantera's first car show since 1996, and I have GOT to get rid of the broomstick!

They turned out to be silver, needed a bit of flat/round filing to fit my OEM struts, work great and no more broomstick!

From my recollection, they are supposed to be anodized aluminum. But, if you had to enlarge the opening it's just as well. Looks good.
