Andreas, Here's my "special" ball joint-removing tool made up from parts from the hardware store. Crude but worked fine. Round headed bolt pushes against the ball joint (with nut on to protect the threads) and spins freely (sort of) in the "coupling nut" since the round-headed bolt is smaller size than nut. Coupling nuts come in various lengths; I think I cut this one the the length that would fit between the parts. Ball joint popped out with relative ease.

Enjoy,

Ron

I used the same setup as Ron and it worked fine. A bit of a pain trying to keep the bottom bolt head on the flange, but it will work. Beats having to replace the boot every time using a pickle fork! Ron, nice picture. Very useful. Thanks for sharing!

Hello! My problem is to disconnect the upright from the ball joint. Is there a special tool to use? Maybe there is wrench guy who have a trick to open it without a special tool. Thank you very much!
