Recommendations for car covers

All I can say is that bought a cheapo cover from PI I think long ago, and it was good, fit the car, had pockets for mirrors. It got dirty etc., so I was looking for something new. I bought quite expensive from Califonia Covers, and while the fabric was for sure better, the fit was not. it would fit a wide body which my car is not, and there are no mirror pockets. I complained, they credited me and let me keep it. It was in the attic for some years, but now I've started using it, but like you, I'd like to buy a new one if one exists where fabric and fit and form is good. But I don't know where to get it

His car had a wing so it wasn't suitable. I find it fits quite nicely and is a nice quality cover. I would look there to buy another if I needed one. In the past I've bought generic (cheap) ones sized for a Corvette and they are OK but this one fits better for sure.

Thanks Mark. Which did you get, the platinum, deluxe or basic? I've seen some advertised that had pockets for the mirrors. Do you feel there is any advantage to this feature?

I have a "plush weave" from California Covers. It fits really well. No mirror pockets.
Imagine the nightmare it would be for a custom manufacturer with all the different types, sizes, and locations of mirrors we put on these cars

I have tried many covers over the years for the cars I keep outside, and by far the best for me in keeping sun and water off the car has been the storm proof cover from Coverking. Very very light cover and completely dry under it in the rain, and fit on the car is very snug all around the car, which is what you want so it does not move around. However one cover i got from them was way tight on the mirrors on my mercedes, and has now torn, because i had to pull it so hard over the mirrors. So all I can say is, greatest cover I gave found, but watch their customer service. I will see how things go whether they resolve it from a customer service perspective or not...but as of right now I rate that perspective as pretty poor with something that should have been taken care of long ago.

Mine appears to be a Deluxe cover. The fit is not "spandex" tight and there are bumps but not "pockets" for mirrors (which vary greatly on a Pantera anyway). I use it indoors in my garage and primarily for dust protection.

I would watch the cheapo types. The fleece type of materials such as evolution 4 etc), fell appart or basically began to disintegrate with little pieces of fiber all over the car after about a year or two. And those small fibers are hard to get out of all the nooks & cranies in the car. I have always asked for swatches to be sent first, and then you can get an idea from that as well.

For a narrow-body, non-flared, non-winged car, a Pontiac Fiero GT car cover is supposed to be a near perfect fit.

Below is the Coverking I was talking about. Nice custom tight fit, doesn't move around, plus I secured rope in the middle, and made front and rear gromets to run bungee under the front and rear side to side. 30 MPH winds today, and it sits righ there tight, like John Holmes with Asian condom.
