Refinishing Half Shafts

Without disassembling, Is it advisable to media blast and re-paint, or what is the best way to improve appearance?

I would not media blast w/o disassembling. Clean it with engine degreaser to get most grease off and then your favorite solvent. i.e. Lacquer thinner and a toothbrush. Be careful of seals around the u-joints if rubber.
