I had my camshaft reground after a lifter failure.

I can (sort of) see how reducing the base circle can compensate for total lift at the peak, but it seems like it would be harder to compensate for the lobe slope.

I guess the peak lift difference can made up for by either rocker height setting, and/or pushrod length?

Can anyone explain the cam "regrind" process and it's effects on the valvetrain?
