I want to replace the crankshaft and rods without taking the engine out of the car. My problem is how to jack up the back of the engine when removing the ZF and still be able to work on the crankshaft. Any thoughts?
I must ask why do it with the engine in the car. To do crank and rods, the heads must be off, the trans off and the timing cover and chain off. And then try and tap the pistons back in reaching in the car , does not sound like fun. Let alone the rest of it. At least if you can do the engine outside of the car there is less chance of leaks, and get done properly.
With great difficulty you may be physically able to do this .. but to replace a crank, rods and pistons there is extensive machine work needed .. that deems it impossible .. because you cant get a boring bar and mill in the trunk ? LOL
