and found it very easy due to the 2 part bushes which were installed, i went with some original style replacements, but has any one ever seen the 2 part slide in bushes on a steel collar?

Those are the polyurethane bushings. As I recall though they meet in the middle and completely cover the stainless steel sleeve.
I have polybushings in three cars and have not experience any squeaking as some have indicated?

the removed bushings are not a soft rubber they are a hard type poly material, the sleeve looks to be stainless as well. I will measure them and I will post here, the steering was not an issue at all no squeaking ride was good , just a maintenance thing I started and got carried away with ... 
It is possible that they are Delrin. The polyurethane bushings are not soft.
...I Installed Mine with Teflon Grease.

Have you had a chance to notice any differance in ride and handling with the rubber bushings compared to the hard plastic?
Not yet , i am still in the process of replacing radiator, and fans, water tubes and new electricals .... i am still a couple of weeks away from a test drive
