OK, I've had it. As long as I'm gonna' freakin' go nuttzer over this wiring crap, I'm not going to put up with ridiculous Italian fuse box.
I'm tired of putting rubber bands on the fuse terminals to get any semblence of a normal electrical system.
Please someone tell me that there is hope and that I can direct replace this freakin' thing with a direct replacement that uses NORMAL, HUMAN BEING FUSES and not some spaghetti benders idea of how to use sun dried luingini for electrical fuses...please! (and I don't care if Ferrari uses them too...screw them too)

Call Larry Stock at Pantera Parts Connection in Reno. 775-856-7011 or his 800-detomaso #

He has a stock fuse holder that he modifies to accept the new, standard ATC pretty colored plastic push-in/pull-out fuses. Direct replacement for the original one, since it IS a modified original one.

Pay for it, +/- $250 or so, I think.

Relax until it arrives.

Take lots of digital photos as you remove/swap all those Italian wires from old to updated fuse block.

Now, wasn't that easy? Wink

Hey P-Doug Larry's right there are alternatives to the crappy fuseblock. Bob Timma also made a quality conversion of a I believe 91 Mitsubishi block that worked extremely well and has about 6 more circuits so that you can seperate the load. He charged $75 dollars for the fuse block and also incorporated some relays for extra $$$$. Do a search on this website under "timma" and you should find some previous posts. Also Chuck Melton did a comparison of both Larry's fuseblock and Bob's that had some useful information.

Now that I've got Doug calmed down, some advice for others who could appreciate a better functioning fuse box, but haven't reached critical mass quite yet. Wink

Clean all the fuse terminals. Fine steel wool, Dremel with a small wire brush. Pinch them closer together. This will help some.

If you still are using the ceramic fuses with the aluminum metal fusible links, strongly consider upgrading to the no-longer-made but still found-in-old-stock all glass Buss GBC fuses. This will go a long way to improving things, since the aluminum and the brass fuse holders are not friendly with each other.

If you can't find the glass GBC fuses, look for the newer GBC ceramic fuses that no longer use aluminum, but a more compatible brass fusible link.

And if you really want the glass GBC fuses but can't find them in your home town (CAUTION:shameless plug following) I can sell you some of the NOS 8, 15, and 25 amp ones I scrounged up here in Fresno (wasn't easy).

Panteradoug, check out PAINLESS WIRING CO. i just looked for myself they have a DURASPARk II wiring harness also. and universal fuse blocks also. I'm thinking of the same thing converting the harness. I shutter at paying 250 for a fuse block. why dont you go to Miele near you and ask for a universal fuse block or go to the junk yard and by one for 10.00. all you need is the same amount of fuses.

I went the painless wiring route. They have a small fuse block model #30002 that accepts 4 circuits and nests together. The DIY route is not for the faint of heart. Really need to know the wiring diagram and even then they are sometimes not correct. With the block you run from the old wire to this new circuit one by one re-connecting the wires. With the right positioning it fits in the same location as the old fuse block.

If creative, you can perform some load balacing so that there are not the high load fuses common with the lucas design.

Do not get the designs with the flashers and hazards. The Lucas circuits are not compatable unless you like to re-wire your whole car.

Systems like Larry's are almost foolproof and easy, others may require more skill to get everything working. What every is your wish.

Doug, you guys have it under control. This is not the "George Show".

For your info, My '74 still has the oem box, no problems so far. If I decide to do the conversion, I'll use Larry Stock's converted oem fuse box, simply because it is plug & play.
