I have a 71 pantera project im working on.
The car is almost ready to be painted but i do need a replacement windscreen and chrome trims.
I priced the setup oem for over 2000 PLUS shipping.
Anyone know where i can get a replacement windscreen and the original chrome style trim?
I want to keep the car as original as possible but dont want to have to cough up $1000 in just a windscreen (just imagining have a crack in a windshield later on and then having to pay another $1000 is ridiculous)

The '71 windshield trim and gasket are different from the '72 and later cars. The '71 chrome trim is a two piece trim (it resembles a large "u"), whereas the '72 and later trim is a four piece trim. The windshields are the same.

Brian Nebergall of SoCal Auto Glass Connection in Escondido, CA has the windshields in stock. Here is what he had as of last November:

Green-tint with a blue shade across the top $400
Green-tint without the blue shade $375
Clear with no shade $360
(+ shipping)

Phone is 760 746-6580 or 760 715-8875.

The original windshield from my '71 was used to make the mold.

Is the trim even available? Is this a push button car we are talking about?
The trim is available from Italy. The car isnt a push button Frowner

Does he have the one with the antenna wire installed in the glass, how thick is the glass, stock/
Just picking your brain on it John.

This was discussed here before and the consensus was that it wasn't as thick as the originals.

I had this discussion with a local "windshield" guy and I was shocked to see that they showed in stock at around $275 each.

The internal antenna was being shown as available at that time.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually has this glass.

My original is showing de-lamination indications on the lower corners.

Just rying to be as prepaired as possible. Last time I looked Hall was $1100. Didn't check with Wilkinson who is likely the source of the original glass now in the US.
Doug,

I don't remember a discussion on this forum re this particular windshield. The guy that actually coordinated the production of this windshield started a thread on this forum a few years ago. He was looking for an original Pantera windshield, and I responded. He has installed one in his Pantera, and said that the fit was perfect.

Do you have an original windshield that you can measure the thickness ? I have one of these new windshields that I can measure for comparison.

I've been through this before. When it came time to deliver, they were either no longer available, or the price jumped exponentially.

John
I just have mine which is installed.

Wilkinson is listing it at $550.

Like anything, you won't know for sure one is available until you go to buy it.

The listing I'm referring to was a PPG unit and were in stock at the time in Pennsylvania.

I came across the installers card the other day and put it aside in the shop.

I'd contact him but he'd think I wanted to buy one rather then check stock.

If I changed it out it would only be because I'd want the antenna in it.

Which is the original color combination

Are you doing the work yourself? If so, fine. If not, be aware that in-glass antenna wires have been CUT OFF by non-Pantera windshield installation shops when they couldn't find a convenient routing thru the gasket for the wires. This after you spent extra $$$ to get such an accessory....and cut off wires are not repairable.

Also be aware that Wilkinson currently stocks a windshield with all OEM markings that is about 1/4" larger in all dimensions, suitable for glueing in without the need to weld extra metal around the whole opening, as many glue-ins do. I'm not a big fan of glue-in windshields unless the chassis is also stiffened, since windshield cracking has been reported on some unreinforced Panteras with glue-ins.

Here is link to a thread discussing the glued in windshield. The post has a few pictures of a glued in windshield. I like the looks of it

Thanks Devin! I am still on the fence regarding the looks. I do like it but I need to see one in person. If someone had a before and after shot, that would be cool to see. 4NHOTROD said he was installing his back in 2010 but never posted the pictures...
Here is an email that I just received from Brian.

Hi John!

Thanks for the help!

I misplaced my cell phone (760 715-8875 ...) while we were on a little sabbatical, but did find it last night. I'm not sure about the 760 746-6580. There are messages for me most mornings when I get to work and I know it picks up messages when I'm out in the shop and can't get to the phone during the day. I haven't had any requests for a Pantera windshield for a few weeks, so I'm a little stymied. I'll clear out my cell phone this morning, so I hope that will solve the problem. If possible, would you be able to forward the person's number so that I may be able to contact him directly?

Anyway, thanks again for all the help.
