The Craig Davies water pump installs between the radiator outlet & the block mounted water pump suction, it draws cooled water from the radiator and it pumps it through the block mounted water pump and into the engine in the normal direction. It requires removal of the block mounted water pump's impellar, using the water pump casting as a distribution manifold.

You remove the thermostat. The pump has a variable speed controller that regulates coolant temp by varying the speed of the pump.

The drawbacks are that the pump puts an extra load on the electrical system and takes up room somewhere to install it. The pump motor will have a life rating in hours, something like 1000 hours. If you drive your car 8 hours per week, you'll need to replace the water pump motor every 2 1/2 years.

Essential to the Pantera cooling system is a higher volume electric fan to blow air through the radiator at stops & low speeds. Without this upgrade, even the Craig Davies water pump will not keep the engine cool under those conditions.

The coolant flows through the engine in the proper direction in regards to delta - T and heat transfer rates, don't reverse it.
