Reverse lights staying on!

I noticed that when following other Panteras, at stop signs when the driver shifts into 1st gear I see the reverse light briefly flash on, then off. Is that normal?
Also, today I noticed my reverse lights were staying on no matter where my shifter was. I ended up taking one of the leads off the switch on the ZF, so I could drive it today and not look like a goof ball. Any ideas what's wrong? Thanks

I would hazzard a guess that the switch is stuck. You can pop off the cover and clean the internals.

And/or make the appropriate adjustments. Sounds like the spacing is off.

Agree with Husker. The reverse switch screwed into the shifter box may be in to far.
Try backing it out a little and then lock it down.

You could always drive around in reverse, to avoid looking like a goof ball!

Good solution George! I'd go for that one but my reverse switch had the same symptoms. It began sticking and eventually just stuck open. I disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt it but it is cheaply made and eventually broke again. I ended up just buying a new improved version from Brian Graham, works great!
