Montalban had injured his back in a horse riding accident prior to the filming of the Hawaii 5-0 episode. Needless to say he had diffculty getting in and out of the car. George Fraine, the original owner of the car was hired on to do the stunt driving as well as the "stand in" work. Whenever you see the driver in the racing suit and helmet, its not Montalban, its George Fraine. George remembers Montalban as a very nice guy.

They rented the Pantera from him and also paid him to drive and be the stand in. According to George, the episode took about 3 weeks to film and shot 16+ hours a day. He says between his pay and the car rental fee, he was able to pay off the car after the episode was shot. Too bad George didn't keep the script of the episode!
