washing the car after 1 year Big Grin i see alot paint damage on the rear fenders ....perhaps alot to do with the Michelin TB15 "race" tires which can be very sticky once hot...so i assume the fronts throw it up and those stone chips hit the rear...? Now i was thinking of protection adhesive as on the Porsches 930.... anyone did this/other method or have the same damage ? Confused

no seen in general

but in detail

The Porsche method ?

Good topic. I recently bought 3M Ventureshield to protect the rockers from chips on the GT5. It is difficult for people to get in and out without kicking them. While the videos make it look easy to install the clear vinyl and I am confident it is after adequate practice, It is very stressful for the uninitiated. More than once I thought there was no way I was going to get the bubbles out and would need to write off the product. In the end, got a good result.

Just yesterday, another Pantera owner encouraged me to do the front of the hood and the leading edge of the rear flares that you show on your 5S. The bends are not very complicated there. Your photo has me convinced that I need to acquire more 3M material to protect the surfaces.

I'd love to do the front airdam; however, that is far beyond my skill set.
h,
have used clear on rockers behind front tyres to front of rear, also rear panel, also the rockers or inner door sill so that they dont get scratch with pple getting in and out. seems good,
get an experienced person to aplly and make sure surface to be coated is spottless otherwise you will get bubles or dirt stuck under and no going back from there.
cheers cj

What's the installation process John? Do you wet the surface with a soapy solution to allow it to be moved and bubbles worked out once applied? This is the recommended method on the Mustang forums when applying factory decals to vintage Mustangs. Just curious how best to apply the 3M clear shield product.

Thanks!
