Too late for your build, but when I redid my heads this past Winter, with a VERY in-the-know builder, he said as long as I was staying in the 6000 rpm range, with 400-450 hp, he felt the boss/fulcrum/bolt system was fine. I did upgrade to the Ford Motorsport bolt in roller rockers - flat tappet hydraulic cam.

Those are both excellent ways to go. The bolt downs work very well and require no machining at all.

I've got blue Ford Motorsports,1.8:1, on 7/16" screw in studs with Boss guideplates on my A3 heads. Solid lifter camshaft.

No pictures to post though sorry. I never though anyone would be interested in seeing them.
